I am ridiculously excited to show you what I’ve been working on over the past few days – an advent calendar!

I’ve just hung it on my wall after extracting solemn promises from Mr 6 that it will not be touched before 1 December!

This is made with match boxes, a baking tray, magnets and glitter Washi tape to cover the boxes.  I also grabbed a few Christmas decorations to stick on the edge.  (And nothing but super glue worked to stick those suckers onto the metal!)

Here are some photos of how I put it all together:

The Washi tape is a Selley’s pack I bought at Costco.
The numbers are a free download from http://justsomethingimade.com/2009/10/simple-spool-advent-calendars/.

They work with a 1 inch circle punch.   I also used Stampin’ Up!’s glitter sheets and my  1 1/4 inch circle and star punches as backgrounds for the numbers.

I stuck magnets on the back of each box so they would stick to the baking tray.

I also used sticky strip to run sequins along the side edges of the tray and some Washi tape and glitter glue for the top and bottom.

I stuck it to the wall using 3M removable hanging strips.

So there you have it – my glittery, sparkly home made advent calendar.  Anyone got any ideas for what to do with hundreds of spare matches? 😉

Thanks for reading.

cards from colouring in, star punch, using up scraps

Today I went to show you a few more cards I made from some colouring in some scribbles I’ve done.

I cut a star out of this one and made a notecard:

Then made this one from the cut out mirror image:

I made a few from some cut out heart shapes I’d scribbled as well:

It’s nice taking some random scribbles and making something people will hopefully enjoy.

Thanks for reading.

Hi

Just a quick post to share with you a card I just whipped up in less than 2 minutes for a kid’s birthday party this afternoon.

I had a vague thought the other day that some washi tape I was recently given with stars on it might go well with my star punch.  A piece of card stock, a few strips of washi tape and a star punch and ta da!!!!

What do you think?  Not bad for 2 minutes?

Thanks for reading

5th birthday, 5th birthday card, Birthday card, Kids cards, name card

Hello!

Today we had a 5th birthday party for a little boy called Ben.   Here’s the birthday card we made this morning:

letter, circle and star kid's birthday card

The colours are Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight and Poppy Parade (now retired, but Real Red would look just as good)

I used the 1 3/4 inch circle punch and a star punch as well as using my Big Shot and an alphabet die set to die cut the letters.

My son – and creative director! – insisted Ben needed ‘jewels’ on the card – so he stuck on 5, for a 5th birthday.  I’m actually quite impressed – he stuck them on really quite straight!

The little birthday boy seemed very chuffed with his card – so job done!   I was actually really pleased with how it turned out – sometimes the simplest cards are the most effective I think?

Thanks for reading.
