butterfly thinlits, feminine birthday card

Hi!

I wanted to show you the card I made for my Mum’s 70th birthday.

I picked some card stock and matching pretty paper for the base.  I added a paper doily and a punched white circle in the centre, then added a die cut butterfly.  Then added extra detail with stick on pearls.

I was very happy with how it turned out, and the birthday girl seemed to like it!

butterfly cards, clever ideas for cards, gift soap on a card

I was browsing the discount bin at the local pharmacy (drug store) the other day and found a cute butterfly soap.

I remembered I had some butterfly paper in my card stash …

How cute is that?

I have a “tween” in mind who I hope will love this card.

bow punch board, quick cards, using up scraps

Hi

On the weekend I found a bit of time to make some cards.  I pulled out my gift bow punch and decided to make some cards using up my scrap stash.  Here is one with a plain bow:

Cute, but I decided it wasn’t quite pretty enough, so back to the stash for some “bling” and voila!

Cute quick cards that took about 5 mins each to put together.

card gift sets, Card sets, homemade gifts, reusing salad containers, Upcycling, using up scraps

Hi

Today I want to show you an idea I had for making a gift boxed set of cards using a plastic container that some salad leaves came in.

When I was getting my rocket leaves out of the fridge a few days ago, I thought that the container would be just right to hold some square cards.

I thought while I was in the upcycling/recycling mood, I should also use up some of my spare paper stash.  So I grabbed some old Bravo Burgundy (Stampin’ Up!) card stock and matching designer series paper, some punches and a pile of paper doilies I had in my “random craft stuff” box, and here’s what I came up with:

It was a layering job of DSP and card stock. I used my 2 3/8 inch scallop circle punch and the 1 3/4 and 1 3/8 inch circle punches.   The “For You” sentiment is from the Chalk Talk stamp set.

I then decorated the plastic container to match the cards.

A quick tag using the scallop tag topper punch, some matching ribbon and voila!

I made this for someone very special to me who is forever sending cards to other people, so hopefully she enjoyed receiving some cards of her own.

Thanks for reading.

I know, Fathers’ Day was over a month ago now, but I just realised that I never posted a picture of the card I made for Dad this year.   This only makes sense if you’re a Star Wars fan!

craft ideas for using up scraps, gift card holder, quick and easy gift card holder

If you’ve been reading my blog the past week you’ll know I’ve been working my way through my pile of spare card stock and designer series paper to make some cards using my scraps and offcuts.

I came across some pretty strips of paper and some envelopes – perfect for making my favourite quick and easy gift card holders!

I did a post a while ago showing you how to make these in detail.  But these are seriously the quickest and cutest idea for gift giving ever!

Take any size envelope, fold it in half, cut the flap in half, stick down one side, decorate and you’re done!

A card, present and wrapping all in one cute little package!

corner rounder punch, quick cards, using up scraps

When I was rummaging through my stash of saved scrap paper the other day I came across some designer series paper I’d previously cut into the perfect shape to go on a card front.   I have no idea what I was planning to do with them originally, but a few minutes with a corner rounder punch and some ribbon and ta da!

At about 2-3 minutes a card, what could be easier?!?

cheap simple cardmaking, ideas for scrap paper, quick cards

Hands up if you have a box of old paper scraps, embellishments you bought in a discount bin because they’d be useful one day etc etc? I certainly do!

When I was rummaging through my stash yesterday making some cards out of punched out colouring in, I also came across a few scraps of paper, flowers and buttons I decided to turn into cards at the same time.

Here are a few:

What have you got lying around you could turn into a quick card?

cards from colouring in, star punch, using up scraps

Today I went to show you a few more cards I made from some colouring in some scribbles I’ve done.

I cut a star out of this one and made a notecard:

Then made this one from the cut out mirror image:

I made a few from some cut out heart shapes I’d scribbled as well:

It’s nice taking some random scribbles and making something people will hopefully enjoy.

cards from colouring in, Punches, tips for punching small paper

I’m pleased to report in finally starting to feel a little better! Still off work, but I’ve graduated from lying down all day to being able to sit up for a few hours at a time. Progress!!!

Today I realised how many notebooks of scribbles and coloured in pictures I have lying around the house.

I have a lot of long teleconferences in my job. One of my favourite things to do while listening on long calls is some doodling/colouring in that my son likes to call my “scribble scrabbles”.

Today I decided to make some cards out of one of my “scribble scrabbles”.  First – to my punches!  Today I used large and small butterfly punches and a small heart punch:

Tip: the small heart punch is brilliant for using up the edges from paper where you’ve needed to leave spaces between larger punches.  However it can be tricky to use the punch with very small pieces of paper!  Here’s a quick tip: put the small piece you want to punch on the sticky side of a post it note. Too easy!

I had a lovely time sorting through my pile of old card stock and mixing and matching with punches. A great way to use up scraps! Here are some of the results of my playing today:

It felt so nice to be making something today!
