butterfly thinlits, feminine birthday card

Hi!

I wanted to show you the card I made for my Mum’s 70th birthday.

I picked some card stock and matching pretty paper for the base.  I added a paper doily and a punched white circle in the centre, then added a die cut butterfly.  Then added extra detail with stick on pearls.

I was very happy with how it turned out, and the birthday girl seemed to like it!

Thanks for reading đŸ™‚

Quick and easy masculine card

masculine cards, quick cards

Hi

I had to make a card for a male friend’s 40th birthday on the weekend.  And, in classic Caro style, I literally had 5 minutes to do it!

Cutting card stock to 26 X 13cm makes a square card that fits Stampin’ Up! Square envelopes, and a 12.5 X 12.5 cm bit of paper made the card rest of the card.  Happy Birthday was stamped with the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set, and punched with the word window and modern label punches.  The card stock was Island Indigo.

Go to woah in 5 minutes – gotta be happy with that!

butterfly cards, clever ideas for cards, gift soap on a card

I was browsing the discount bin at the local pharmacy (drug store) the other day and found a cute butterfly soap.

I remembered I had some butterfly paper in my card stash …

How cute is that?

I have a “tween” in mind who I hope will love this card.

Thanks for reading.

bow punch board, quick cards, using up scraps

Hi

On the weekend I found a bit of time to make some cards.  I pulled out my gift bow punch and decided to make some cards using up my scrap stash.  Here is one with a plain bow:

Cute, but I decided it wasn’t quite pretty enough, so back to the stash for some “bling” and voila!

Cute quick cards that took about 5 mins each to put together.

Thanks for reading đŸ™‚

Hello

I am spending a rainy Saturday afternoon making some cards – and I thought I’d show you one I made for my brother, who is turning 30 this week.

He is a huge Star Wars fan, and also a bit of a maths geek, so I went with a Roman numerals idea –  XXX is 30 in Roman numerals, so I thought I’d make the Xs out of light sabres!

I used Stampin’ Up! punches.  The handles of the light sabres are made from the jewelry tag punch. The blades are from the word window punch.

The Death Star image is one I used on a Yoda birthday card a few months ago. I’ve uploaded the image to Dropbox for anyone who’d like to use it (the link is in the previous Yoda post).

I made the inside a pop-up card:

The good folks at Flaming Text have a Star Wars text generator, which I used to make the image. You can use the image for free as long as you keep on their watermark (which is there in my card, I promise, just hard to see in the photo!)

I hope he likes his card!

Thanks for reading.

Card gift set (made from upcycled salad container)

Hi

Today I want to show you an idea I had for making a gift boxed set of cards using a plastic container that some salad leaves came in.

When I was getting my rocket leaves out of the fridge a few days ago, I thought that the container would be just right to hold some square cards.

I thought while I was in the upcycling/recycling mood, I should also use up some of my spare paper stash.  So I grabbed some old Bravo Burgundy (Stampin’ Up!) card stock and matching designer series paper, some punches and a pile of paper doilies I had in my “random craft stuff” box, and here’s what I came up with:

It was a layering job of DSP and card stock. I used my 2 3/8 inch scallop circle punch and the 1 3/4 and 1 3/8 inch circle punches.   The “For You” sentiment is from the Chalk Talk stamp set.

I then decorated the plastic container to match the cards.

A quick tag using the scallop tag topper punch, some matching ribbon and voila!

I made this for someone very special to me who is forever sending cards to other people, so hopefully she enjoyed receiving some cards of her own.

Thanks for reading.

Ninjago birthday cards

Kids cards, Ninjago birthday cards, Ninjago Lego cards

My son and his friend are obsessed by Ninjago Lego.   So I’ve had to come up with a quick and simple Ninjago birthday card for all those birthday parties!

This is all thanks to the kind folks at http://www.halegrafx.com who have some free downloadable Ninjago eye packs.

I downloaded the 3 and 5 inch sheet, cut out the 5 inch eyes and stuck them on some red cards (my son loves the red ninja but they would work equally well for the other coloured ninjas!).

I have a stash of red wrapping paper – voila, a Ninjago present!

(Ninjago Lego inside of course!!!)

quick kids cards

Another day, another kids birthday present to wrap/card to make.

I found some spotty paper and alphabet colours in my scrap paper stash and voila:

All those colours make my eyes hurt, but hopefully Aston likes a card with his name on it.

I hope you’re enjoying your weekend!

Star Wars kids cards

Kids cards, Star Wars cards, Star Wars Punch Art

Hello

My 6 year old and all his friends are obsessed with Star Wars at present.  There are a couple of Padawan birthdays coming up over next few weeks so I’ve been looking for some quick Star Wars cards to make.

Here they are in order of simplicity!!!

The lightsabers are made with the word window and jewellery punches.   The Death Star is a print out sized to fit my 1 3/4 inch circle punch. (I made it for this yoda card I made a few months ago).

The next one is basically the same but with the child’s name in Star Wars font – check out the cool tool at logo54.com/movie/starwars

I’m not sure you can really file the next card under “quick” but it was still pretty easy! And still didn’t take more than 10 minutes.

Darth Vader and Obi Wan are made from the owl punch.  Vader’s face is the owl’s vest turned upside down with some black fake pearls for eyes.

I made the cape with the curly label punch turned on its side and trimmed off at the sides:

I hope you enjoyed reading this.  And here’s hoping the little Jedis enjoy them too!

Quick and easy cards

corner rounder punch, quick cards, using up scraps

When I was rummaging through my stash of saved scrap paper the other day I came across some designer series paper I’d previously cut into the perfect shape to go on a card front.   I have no idea what I was planning to do with them originally, but a few minutes with a corner rounder punch and some ribbon and ta da!

At about 2-3 minutes a card, what could be easier?!?

Thanks for reading.
