baby cards, Colouring in

Over the past week I’ve been showing you some of the range of cards I’ve made using a pile of coloured in images I have had lying around.  You’ll probably be pleased to here that this is the last post I plan on doing on this topic!

One of the images I coloured in multiples of was this cute image from a retired Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Give a Gift.

Here are some of the cards I made with these cute little circles:

Baby punch out card

(this green one is my favourite one!)

Baby cut out card - yellow

They are all a bit different.  I’ve used up quite a lot of spare DSP or sheets of card stock I’d embossed but not yet figured out what to do with.

I hope you can see that this is a ‘cut out’ card – and the image is actually stuck on the inside of the card with a punched shape cut out of the front of the card.   This photo gives you a better idea:

IMAG0177

This is such a simple and effective technique you can use it for pretty much any stamp or imagine that has a matching punch.    If you’d like to know how I made this card, come back tomorrow and I’ll show you!

Thanks for reading

baby cards, cards, Colouring in, cute

Hello

The past few days I’ve been showing you some pictures of some of the cards I made with my stash of coloured-in images.

Today I want to show you one of my favourite set of cards I’ve made in a long time. Such a cute baby card (if I do say so myself!)

I’d coloured in a whole heap of small imaged from a retired Stampin’ Up! set called Baby Bundle.  You could make a similar card from the current A Fitting Occasion set, or any other set with cute small images  (PS the images in the Baby Tees jumbo wheel are also gorgeous and great for colouring in).

IMAG0097

I cut out the coloured image with my 1 1/4 inch circle punch.  The matted circle was cut from the 1 3/8 inch circle punch.  I like this as it gives just a hint of background colour, but you could use your 1 3/4 inch circle if you like more background.

The white cardstock layer was run through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.

I then used my Scallop Edge border to cut along the edge – I thought the card needed a bit of balance on the right and I love how the scallop edge turned out. This photo gives a better idea of what I did (sorry it’s a bit grey)

Here are some more:

Gorgeous baby card

IMAG0096

IMAG0098I’m so in love with these cards I almost couldn’t bring myself to give them away!  (I must confess I’ve kept quite a few.  I need some people to have babies so I can use them!)

Colouring in, cupcake cards, using up scraps

Hello – thanks for reading Caro’s Pretty Things 🙂

Today I wanted to show you some more of the cards I made using up my (ridiculously large!) stash of coloured-in stamped images.   Today I’m going to show you some cupcakes.  Again, these are mostly using up scraps of paper and card stock I had lying around.  Believe it or not I have finally completely emptied one of my boxes of paper ‘I might need just in case’!!

IMAG0167I hope you enjoyed looking at some of these pictures.

baby cards, Colouring in, using up scraps

Hello!

Yesterday I showed you just some of the ridiculous number of pages of coloured-in stamped images I had lying around my office from a time when I was unwell earlier in the year.    In the next few blog posts, I’ll show you what I did with them all!

I figured while I was using up my colouring-in, I should probably use up some of my giant stash of retired Stampin’ Up! designer series paper (DSP) as well as various packets of card stock, corrugated cardboard etc I’ve been hoarding since one of my many visits to a local $2 shop!

I probably had almost a whole watercolour sheet of Stampin’ Up’s Two by Two stamp.

IMAG0042

My Mum’s op shop got a donation of a very large number of these cards!

IMAG0099I must have made about 30 of them!

I also coloured in sheets of the pram image from the (now, sadly, retired set Baby Bundle):

Here are some of the cards I made:

What to do with my colouring in?!?

Colouring in, craft therapy, StampinUp markers, watercolours

hello!

A few months ago I was quite sick and had to take a month off work.  (I’m all better now thankfully, in case you’re wondering 🙂 )

So – what to do when all you can do all day is lie around?   Colouring in of course!

I had a few pads of water colour paper lying around (have I mentioned I love $2 dollar shops and always have some craft supplies lying around?!?)   I used my StayzOn inkpad and stamped pages and pages and pages of stamps and gradually coloured them all in with my Stampin’ Write Markers.

I find colouring in sooooo therapeutic.  You don’t have to think too much, you feel like you’re being creative even if you’re not doing too much, and there is something so calming about choosing colours and then gently colouring in the image.  Maybe it has something to do with reverting to childhood as well?

Anyway … when I said I coloured in pages and pages, I wasn’t exaggerating!  I literally coloured in for days at a time because I didn’t have the energy to do anything else (I couldn’t even concentrate on television).  3 watercolour pads worth!

Here are just some of the pages I coloured in.

Lately I’ve been figuring out what to do with all of this stuff – make cards of course! Stay tuned and I’ll show you how I turned these sheets into cards.
