ideas for magnetic tape, magnets for invitations

Hi

Is your fridge anything like mine?  Covered with art works, notes from school/daycare, reminders and birthday invitations?   And as a result, covered in magnets, some of which are gorgeous, maybe even matching, but some … well, kinda hideous?  And the fridge is getting progressively more scratched from all the magnets.

I have previously confessed to a slight addiction to looking for craft supplies in $2 shops. So much stuff, so little money!  A while ago I picked up a roll of magnetic sticky tape, as I was sure I’d find a use for it.  Right?

My little boy and I have made a few magnets by sticking some tape to the back of punched out shapes, but the magnetic tape is not really strong enough to hold anything too heavy.   But watching him stick a birthday party invitation to the fridge the other day with yet another magnet, I had a great idea.  My roll of magnet tape!

So I’ve moved the roll of tape to a kitchen cupboard and I’ve started putting a small bit of tape onto the back of any notes, invitations etc I need to just have on the fridge for a short time – it’s brilliant!  So neat!

IMAG0199Am I obsessive?  Yep.  Is caring about magnets ridiculous? Probably!  Do I feel better?  Yep!  And I’ve finally found a use for that roll of magnetic tape 🙂

Here’s to an orderly fridge!

hanging kids paintings, kids craft, mini art gallery

Hi.  Thanks for reading my blog 🙂

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know I have a small son.  He goes to daycare a few days a week and loves art and craft so much he often makes several paintings every day.   He brings them home proudly and then I am never sure what to do with his masterpieces!

I took him to an art exhibition last weekend and he was most intrigued by the concept of exhibiting paintings on the wall.  He wanted to know if he could bring his paintings in for an exhibition.   I had to explain why not – but it did give me an idea.  What if we made our own little art gallery at home?

A couple of clip boards and some 3M hanging strips later and voila – a mini art gallery to show off his art works!

And here they are filled with his lovely art:

IMAG0201The thing I like about this is that we can change them around easily, add a new art work to the top every day, and the older ones can be discretely ‘filed’ (some in a book to keep for later and perhaps some in a slightly different ‘filing’ place!)

It is also a good way to get them out of the way if the paint is not quite dry.

I have to say I’m actually really liking having the extra colour on the walls, and it makes the kitchen look a little different each day, which is no bad thing.

I can also see this being a great idea for a mood board, or even a cheap way to get some colour on walls with a changing range of printed images or cuts outs from magazines.

Enjoy!

Caro x

PS I got these lovely steel clip boards at Officeworks.  Much nicer than the usual plastic ones!

What to do with my colouring in?!?

Colouring in, craft therapy, StampinUp markers, watercolours

hello!

A few months ago I was quite sick and had to take a month off work.  (I’m all better now thankfully, in case you’re wondering 🙂 )

So – what to do when all you can do all day is lie around?   Colouring in of course!

I had a few pads of water colour paper lying around (have I mentioned I love $2 dollar shops and always have some craft supplies lying around?!?)   I used my StayzOn inkpad and stamped pages and pages and pages of stamps and gradually coloured them all in with my Stampin’ Write Markers.

I find colouring in sooooo therapeutic.  You don’t have to think too much, you feel like you’re being creative even if you’re not doing too much, and there is something so calming about choosing colours and then gently colouring in the image.  Maybe it has something to do with reverting to childhood as well?

Anyway … when I said I coloured in pages and pages, I wasn’t exaggerating!  I literally coloured in for days at a time because I didn’t have the energy to do anything else (I couldn’t even concentrate on television).  3 watercolour pads worth!

Here are just some of the pages I coloured in.

Lately I’ve been figuring out what to do with all of this stuff – make cards of course! Stay tuned and I’ll show you how I turned these sheets into cards.

So it’s been a while ….

≈ Comments Off on So it’s been a while ….

So, I came on here about a year ago with an intention to start a craft blog.  What happened I hear you ask? (if there are any of you out there!)  Well, life happened.   Busy job, busy family, busy busy busy.  So craft gets pushed to the bottom of the pile.

I have been doing some crafting in that time though, so I might share some of the stuff I have made over the past year.   Please go easy on me – most of the photos are taken on my mobile phone (“Fix Camera” is also on the ‘to do’ list!) and I’m still figuring out how to blog.

I get so much inspiration from all the generous and clever people who post their creations on the web  I thought it was time I tried to do my part, even just a little.

So stay tuned!

I am also collecting some of the ideas that inspire me over on Pinterest so please look me up over there as well – my user name is “Caro’s Pretty’.   I’m also on Twitter – @prettythingsau.

Thanks for reading 🙂

Welcome to Caro’s Pretty Things!  Thanks for stopping by.

I’m a little bit of a paper craft addict, and decided I might start blogging about some of my creations.  I get so many good ideas from other wonderful blogs so I thought maybe it was time to share some ideas of my own.

I am also an independent Stampin Up! demonstrator so I’m happy to help you find any of the products I’ve used in the projects I blog about.

This is my first attempt at blogging so please bear with me while I figure this out!

Thanks for reading 🙂

Caro
